Mini-Case
- A Mini-Case is like a Preliminary Draught when you are preparing a complete Case Study.
- Draught - (hardcopy & softcopy)
- Draught = a first or preliminary form of any writing, subject to revision, copying, etc. = Draft (USA)
- Preliminary Draught = Your first version of your paper, following the format of the Case Method.
- This preliminary draught will have all of the components of the final paper, but will probably need much more detail and refinement before the final submission (= Final Draught).
- Just an a skeleton of what the final version will look like (following the format of the Case Method).
- Since you won't have the time to do a complete case study, you can simply make a note to explain what you would put it each section (see the headings) if you had more time.
- Submit just the DOC file. PPT is not required (for the preliminary draught). - (hardcopy & softcopy)
- Requirements
- You must select a real company. (Sometimes the company will be assigned to you. For instance, if it is a case from the textbook.)
- If you are using a case from the book, you will not simply answer the questions in that case. However, understanding the answer to the question may help you do your case.
- No company is perfect. There is always something that could be improved. It is up to you (the manager) to determine what problem needs to be addressed.
- Assume that you are the manager(s) responsible for this product (or line of products) in the company.
- You must discover a real problem.
- The problem must be current, not a past problem that has already been resolved by the company.
- You must address a global/international marketing business management problem. (Not just any old problem that looks interesting.)
- You MUST use the Case Study Method – cases.htm, case2.htm
- SWOT (a part of the Situation Analysis in the Case Study)
- VERY brief skeleton of what you would do with a real Case Study.
- See Preliminary Draught (above).
- Later in the course you will probably be assigned a full Case Study. A full Case Study will allow you the opportunity to pursue all aspects of the Case in full detail.
