Computer Lab Setup Requests
(for computer labs and multimedia classrooms)
Classrooms & Faculty Offices - Setup Requests
Applications:
- Windows
- Please don't install Windows Automatic Update for the lab computers. Only the master needs to be updated regularly.
- ditto for Apple Quicktime, Adobe Reader, Java, etc.
- Please do put all users' "Documents and Settings" folder on the user's H: drive.
- Please don't put the "Temporary Internet Files" folder on the user's H: drive.
- Please do put the "Temporary Internet Files" folder (for the browser's cache files) on the local computer's C: drive (C:\Windows\temp).
(These files will be deleted by the DeepFreeze program when the student logs out at that workstation.)

- Move WS_FTP out of the Startup's Accessories group. Note that WS_FTP is an application program, not an Accessory or other utility that comes with the operating system. WS_FTP should not be in the Startup's Accessories group. However, it would make sense to put it on the Desktop or in the Internet Applications group.

Upgrades:
Please install the latest version of any application.
Please send all faculty a memo (e-mail) when upgrades or new packages are installed.
Drives & Folders
- Create these folders:
- C:\Temp
- C:\Windows\Temp - (I know this folder exists. However, it is easier for the students to use C:\temp. Please create C:\temp.)

- Correct Date Format - YYYY-MM-DD

NumLock ON
- The Extended Keyboard has been around since 1987. The Numeric Keypad should be used for numbers.
