If you must leave early, make sure to send an e-mail to your professor before the class. If this is impossible, you should at least send an e-mail to explain why you left class early.
Appointments must not be made for a time that will interfere with a scheduled class. Book your doctor, dentist, business, personal meetings so that you do not miss any class. Nothing is more important than your education. (Emergencies excepted.)

Behaviour:
Don't talk or engage in any other disruptive behaviour during the lesson
Take notes during the lesson. Synthesize. Summarize. Don't try to write down every single word.

Electronics:
Prohibited (examples): computers (unless required and approved by your instructor), PDAs (personal digital assistants) or other portable computers, cameras, cell-phone camera/video recorder, lasers, cell phones, pagers or other messaging devices, calculators (unless required), recorders of any kind (audio, video), players of any kind (radio, video, TV, CD, DVD, MP3, etc.), etc. Make sure everything is turned off. Do not disrupt the class.
Phone - Turn off your phone, then put your phone away, out of sight, out of reach. Setting the phone's ring mode to vibrate is not good enough. Turn off your phone.
It is very rude to have your cellphone ring during a class. Turn off your phone.
Penalty = automatic deduction of Participation marks.

Food:
No food of any kind will be permitted during the class. No gum. No candy. No sandwiches. No poutine. Nothing.
Drinks are permitted.
Washroom
You must prepare for the class before the class starts. You should not need to leave the class to go to the washroom, or to do anything else.
If you must (i.e. emergency) leave the classroom during the class, do not disrupt the class when leaving or when returning.
If you have a serious medical problem, please let your teacher know as soon as possible so that there is no misunderstanding.

Backpacks and other large objects:
Backpacks should be left in lockers. If you must bring your backpack to class, please leave it under the table.
Please consider others when you have a backpack. You are taking up the space of two people. Don't block the passage for other people (in class, in the hallways, on the street, or in the subway).

Read the textbook and any lecture notes before coming to class. You are responsible for this information.
